The Quartet, is inspired by a mix of musical styles, primarily Gypsy Jazz (or Manouche-style) but also incorporating New Musette, Classical, and Tango influences.
The album features dynamic and lyrical arrangements of both original compositions and standards, with Kerry's accordion taking the lead in place of the more traditional violin or clarinet found in some Gypsy Jazz settings. The quartet features Jonny Kerry on accordion (and sometimes vocals and piano), with guitarists Harry Diplock and Ducato Piotrowski, and Mike Green on double bass. Session musician Jason Anick also guests on violin on two tracks. The combination of instruments and influences moves the music beyond predictable genre conventions, evoking Parisian street demotic and 1930s swing with a European twist.
Key tracks include: "Manouche," "Reflections," "I Miss You," "What a Difference a Day Made," and "Waltz for Vera."
